About us

Hi and welcome to my blog!  My name is Kathy! I was born in Bangkok, Thailand but was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  I have grown up around food my whole life.   My parents, Mark and Ling, own a Thai restaurant in the Pittsburgh area called The Green Mango. This is where I was raised and taught to love food.  My mother, who is otherwise known as the “high-heeled chef”, is one of the best cooks I know and I owe her all of my gratitude for teaching me the ways of the kitchen.

Now, I’m married to a wonderful man named Alex.  And our love for deep fried salt and pepper pork chops is what bonds us together! Since Alex is from a Greek and Ukrainian background, I have been expanding my cooking repertoire beyond the Asian cuisine.  He, in turn, has also been expanding his palette to include more Asian delicacies, such as (his ultimate favorite) Banh Mi. Recipe to follow.

We believe that the kitchen (or restaurant) is what brings people together, so we wanted to share some of our experiences with you.  While this blog is, of course, a catalog of recipes we love, it is also a journal of all our eating adventures.  We are constantly trying new restaurants and traveling to different cities to taste their regional fare.  If you have any suggestions for restaurants we should try, please let us know!

Let’s start cookin’!
